2 servings | 20 minutes + 2 to 4 hrs marinating time
Ingredients
1 lb fresh lion’s mane mushroom
1/4 cup orange juice
1 lime, juiced
½ cup liquid amino*
2 tbsp avocado oil
2 tsp smoked paprika
2 tbsp cumin
1 tbsp steak seasoning
1 cup chopped cilantro
salt & pepper to taste
* If you do not have liquid aminos, you can substitute with soy sauce, tamari, or coconut aminos using 1:1 ratio
Directions
1. Remove any substrate gently with a brush. Do not submerge or wash with water as mushroom will absorb water.
2. Heat a cast iron or stainless steel pan on medium high, put lion’s mane (whole or in thick slices) in the pan. Sprinkle a little bit of salt to help remove water. Use another pan or a cast-iron press to compress the mushroom.
3. Make a marinade in a large bowl, adding orange juice, lime, liquid amino, avocado oil, smoked paprika, cumin, steak seasoning, and salt & pepper.
4. Marinade the lion’s mane for 2-4 hours in the fridge.
5. Pre-heat the pan to medium heat, add the lion’s mane and add the marinade overtop so it doesn’t dry out. Cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, flipping until done.
6. Remove and slice in to strips, and enjoy with your favourite sides!
